This standalone piece of new legislation incorporates Australia’s obligation to prevent genocide into domestic law.

This Bill incorporates Australia’s obligations under international law, including the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and supports implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty 2013, ratified by Australia on 3 June 2014.
